The Aqara Camera E1 is a compact indoor camera that provides you with a clear image and smart features to keep an eye on your home. With a 2K sensor and wide-angle lens (f/2.0), you get sharp video, and thanks to pan/tilt motors, the camera can cover a full 360° to follow what is happening in the room.
The camera combines 2K resolution with 360° viewing and person tracking. For night surveillance, there is a 940 nm infrared backlight designed not to disturb in the dark. Video encoding is in H.264.
The Camera E1 works with Apple Home and supports HomeKit Secure Video, including end-to-end encryption and local recognition. It is also compatible with Amazon Alexa and Google Home, and can stream to smart displays in these ecosystems. To control functions like pan/tilt and Privacy Mode via third-party platforms, you can use Aqara Home scenes exposed to each respective platform.
With a built-in NPU, the camera can offer features such as person detection and sound detection in Aqara Home. This makes it easier to filter events and, for example, record or trigger an automation when a person is detected. According to the documentation, these features work locally, even without the internet. Please note that person detection is not exposed to third-party ecosystems.
AI sound detection can include options such as crying, alarm sounds, barking (lab), and coughing (lab). Sound and person detection are stated to be available in Aqara Home.
Activate Privacy Mode in Aqara Home, and the camera rotates to a chosen angle (e.g., towards a wall) and enters sleep mode. You can also turn off the microphone with mic-muting to prevent audio recording and transmission.
The Camera E1 supports Wi-Fi 6 (2.4 GHz) for a stable and secure connection, even in environments with heavy network traffic. WPA3 support contributes to improved wireless security. The documentation also mentions low latency for live viewing (up to 20 ms) and that the camera is designed to handle network load and minimize data usage when not in use.
With Bluetooth 5.2 and MagicPair in Aqara Home, pairing can be smoother: the app can discover the camera and guide you through the installation, including using your phone's QR scanner. It is also possible to factory reset via the Aqara Home app. The documentation also states that the camera can be controlled via Bluetooth even without an internet connection.
You can choose between encrypted cloud storage in Aqara Home or Apple Home and local storage via a microSD card (not included) up to 512 GB (Class 4 or higher). The camera can also back up to an SMB 3.0/SMB3-compatible NAS, where a microSD must be inserted for NAS storage.
According to the footnotes, the camera offers 24 hours of storage of critical events in the Aqara cloud without a subscription. HomeKit Secure Video requires an iCloud subscription and offers 10 days of storage.
The Camera E1 has USB-C and is delivered without a power adapter. You can install it horizontally or with a screw mount/wall anchor depending on placement.
